We are located in the Asheville, North Carolina area. We offer services to all of the Western North Carolina area as well as online services etc.
Here at Sh'ma Ministries, we are committed to serving G-d. We are a Messianic Jewish congregation with a focus of ministry to Jews and gentiles. We offer studies for leading a joyous, abundant and peaceful life. We teach the good news (besorah), and truth (emet). We are Nazarene messianics and stand firm on truth and the proper names of G-d and His son, and avoid all pagan traditions.
We are a Torah observant group. We read weekly Torah portions and we also read the Brit Chadasha as well (New Testament). While there are various types of messianic congregations and teachings, our congregation aligns with Nazarene Messianic beliefs. We are a lively group with dancing, Hebrew classes, prophecy studies, studies on Kingdom Principles as well as many other topics that may interest you.
You may be wondering how the name and the picture relates to our ministry goals. Sh'ma in Hebrew, means 'hear' (listen up) and also 'understand'. The photo was on two different ministry websites visited over the years. It is a picture of the end of times when the lion shall lie down with the lamb, yet with the star of David, we clearly identify with Christianity, Judaism, and end times. We aspire to teach an end time message to Jews and gentiles alike about the coming of Yeshua ha Maschiach (Messiah). Traditional Christianity seems to have covered the globe evangelizing all tribes except the tribe of Judah, and often fail with the tribe of Judah. Why? Jews, the chosen people of G-d, have held fast to the laws and traditions in which the scriptures are written. How can one grow up with this knowledge and walk away forsaking these rich scriptural commands?
Our ministry is to the Jew, as well as to the gentile. Gentiles are often steeped in traditions that go against the will of G-d, even though they intend to serve G-d. These traditions are often offensive (though not intended to be) to Jewish people. G-d has a passion for the tribe of Judah because they have kept his commands throughout the generations.

We teach Hebrew classes as well as Davidic dancing. We believe that our salvation should be evident to others and show the joy of worship. Serving G-d isn't a chore or a bore. And in the new Jerusalem we will be doing a LOT of it.
We aspire to strengthen each person's confidence and joy in Yeshua Ha Maschiach at each point in their life, and encourage personal and spiritual growth in Torah study, prayer, scripture study, Davidic dance, Hebrew language, and active service in our synagogue and community. We also have a variety of programs and community outreach efforts as well!
